MSEP 11 - Sonata for Prepared Piano, and other stories.
Constituent Silver - Rh 216. - More music for bowed Bass Guitar, performed on 'Siouxsie' my Black Fender Fretless. I recall it was the sound of this piece that made me describe it as silver. The title inspired by a misrememberance of the of title of the flute piece 'Density 21.5' by Varese, that it was a silver flute and not a platinum one. Ahh the falsity of memory makes fools of us all.
Ag 47 - Rh 217. Following hard upon 'Constituent Silver', from which it is derived - 'Ag' is the chemical symbol for Silver, and '47' is the atomic number. The recursive power I got on this piece is quite startling.
LVB Gross Fuge for 24 piece string orchestra - Rh 218. Here is another one of those studio exercises, with my assembled 'Isabel Ensemble', useful in so many guises - 'One makes the music one most wants to hear' the adage goes. Like Mahler and Schubert's 'Death and the Maiden' I just wanted to hear the Gross Fuge for String orchestra. I remember getting a LP of the Mahler once and loving it. I thought I will construct such a thing for myself - but go further and construct such an orchestration of it as has never been heard before. I've had several goes at it over the years as a pet project but Just before my interview with musicologist Tom Hewitt I thought I'd better sort this thing out once and for all. So here is the '2016 AAA - Tom Hewitt' version and this time I've got it just so.
